Overview:

Through 20 more years of providing various K-12 afterschool and professional courses including: Fine Arts, music, dancing, Chinese culture, literature, drama & theater, languages and sports, Cathay Future Education (www.cathayfuture.com) has become one of the pioneers and leaders in the emerging field of youth education in Chinese market.  

In July 2015, Cathay Future Education expanded its strategic goals and founded the Washington Cathay Future Center (WCFC) in Rockville, Maryland. The goal for WCFC (www.cathayfuturus.com) is to serve more K-12 young generations with any diversity backgrounds.

WCFC is a team-oriented place, where everyone is creative, passion, dynamic and courageous. Student is the focus of our subject. Our team is student-centric and has a culture of cross-divisional teamwork and collaboration.


Position Summary

WCFC provides various kind of dance classes, including: classical ballet, Chinese folk dance, ballroom dance, street dance, modern dance and stretch. We are looking for energetic, self-motivated and dedicated dance instructors, who have teaching experience in at least one of two fields above.

Job Responsibilities:

The Music Teacher is responsible for planning and teaching music classes for a variety of populations, including children in our Early Childhood, Afterschool and Summer Camp programs

  • Plans and teaches Dance classes at multiple grade levels
  • Creates monthly lesson plans, including specific learning objectives for children by age
  • Modifies activities to meet the needs of individual children as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Skills desired include strong communication, classroom management, and organization
  • College degree (Associates or Bachelors) in a dance related field and experience with children is a plus but not required
  • At least two years’ experience of dance teaching
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to motivate a group of students and explain things as creative as possible

Washington Cathay Future Center (WCFC) seeks a dynamic marketing manager who has teaching experience and/or educational background, and marketing strategic skills to strengthen the brand impact of WCFC, to expand the visibility of its services and, thereby, reach out to local communities. The position reports to Operating Director of Cathay Future Washington Center.

Responsibilities include:

Community Relations/Outreach Communications

The success of any afterschool program depends on its ability to attract students and provide them with meaningful and enriching experiences. The Communication & Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s communication strategy, which includes preparing a wide range of written materials, presentations local communities. As the Communication & Outreach Coordinator you will need to build relationships with schools, parents, community groups, and school representatives to discuss program details and strategies to promote our educational programs. 

Subject-related Events Management

Working closely with the community outreach manager.Works closely with heads of department with the planning and coordination of special events, exhibitions, competitions, and workshops.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the community outreach manager.
  • Devising and coordinating the implementation of a program communication and coordinate the implementation such strategies. for the Washington Cathay Future Center.
  • Developing and implementing an outreach plans that include promotional and educational strategies.Manages hiring and supervises support staff as needed. 
  • Writing various news releases, reports, publications.
  • Assisting technical teams to package and disseminate materials to facilitate replication and learning.
  • Proactive use of website and social media platforms as a foundation for communications and outreach strategy on a regular basis.

Qualifications:

  • At least two to three years of professional experience in communication, media and or public relations, specifically pertaining to the promotion of schools and or educational programs. 
  • Computer literate, meaning skilled and confident user in office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and email. 
  • Familiarity with relevant information technology including social media platforms and website content. 
  • The ability to analyze information from different sources and to synthesize this information into coherent and brief communication documents.
  • The ability to effectively prepare and present marketing ideas to various groups.
  • The ability to work independently or with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential. 
  • Having knowledge of marketing principles to develop and implement strategies to promote our programs is essential.
  • Having excellent verbal, written, creative, interpersonal communication skills, and exemplary editing and proofreading skills and experience with these skills.
  • Education: University degree in communications, journalism, advertising, public relations, or equivalent from a recognized institution. 
  • Madeiran Chinese speaking preferred.
