Outstanding Art Exhibition Planning Program

The Cathay Future Washington Center promotes children’s artistic expression and intellectual growth in a creative and multicultural atmosphere. We are inviting children aged 6-14 to submit their outstanding works of art to the Cathay Future Outstanding Art Exhibition.  Artwork that is selected for the exhibition will be featured during our grand opening on May 15th and remain on display until June 15th.

4.      Timeline:

·         Deadline for submitting your artwork online: May 3rd

·         Notification of whether your artwork has been selected for display: May 4th – May 6th

·         Dates for dropping off artwork for display: May 7th – May 12th

·         Cathay Future Young Artists Exhibition: May 15th – June 15th

·         Dismantling and collection of artwork: June 15th – June 19th


5.      Exhibit Requirements:

·         The artist must be between 6-14 years of age

·             The artwork must have already won an award or been featured in an exhibition.

·         The artwork must exhibit originality, can be any theme

·         The artwork must be presented in the form of a complete display (includes framing and packaging). For installation art/electronic media that requires special set-up, please contact staff.

·         All entries must be marked with the following information:

6.      To Submit Your Artwork:

*       Register on our website, by clicking "Register" on the upper right hand corner of our website.

*       to participate in the exhibition of outstanding works.  You will be asked to fill out a basic information form and then you will be asked to upload your artwork.  You may submit up to 5 artworks.

                     *        If your artwork is selected for our exhibit, we will ask you to drop it off at Cathay Future Washington Center, which is located at 9400 Key West Ave, Rockville, MD, 20850.


7.      Judges


    Edward Victor (Installation Artist)

    Edward is a Puerto Rican artist born in New York.  He has a BFA from Puerto Rico School of Fine Arts and is currently     a MFA student at Maryland Institute College of Arts (MICA).   He has been an art teacher for 13 years.  During this         time, he has worked for The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and The Puerto Rico Department of Education.  He           was also director of the Walter Otero Contemporary Art gallery in San Juan, Puerto Rico.


Yuanjin Wei (Illustration Artist)

Yuanjin is an illustrator and Chinese free hand brush painting artist based in the Washington DC metro area. She especially enjoys creating illustrations that reveal humorous and ironic scenes from everyday life. She combines modern styles with her training in traditional Chines illustration, paying respect to her traditional heritage while experimenting with fresh techniques.


Jessica Shangcao Yuan (Designer)

Jessica is a graphic and interactive designer. She is professional in digital art and Adobe software, as well as hand drawing and painting. Jessica is a freelancing designer in the field of branding, publication, website and mobile applications. Her clients include Chinese and American companies.


8.      Awards

All participants will get invited to China by certificate.

The work will be included to the Chinese Central Works of Art yearbook collection.
