Visual Illustration

The visual illustration camp is an exciting opportunity for students who are interested in art and storytelling to bring their stories to life through illustration! Students will learn about the traditional function of illustration in books, and the fundamentals of choosing themes to visualize a narrative. A basic history of the Illustrated Book is covered, with both historical and contemporary examples examined. Lessons will also cover location drawing, character design, and book making. After a week of learning about – and practicing – visual illustration, students will gain a new perspective on art, storytelling, and the world around them..
