2017 Young Authors Academy - Writing & Storytelling Camp

Part free-verse. Part form. Young Authors Academy strengthens writers both creatively and academically. In our Creative Writing segment, your student will be stretched imaginatively, scribing and analyzing classic literary forms that employ such tools as sensory language, economy of language and language development. For example, authors will explore how characteristics like theme, mood, tone and point-of-view give stories depth, while the figurative language devices found in haikus, sonnets, fables and parables makes those genres more visual and expressive. In contrast, Writing Intensive is more rigorous and academic, teaching students how to organize, develop and support ideas for expository writing prompts. In short, this part of the course teaches students how to write more clearly, concisely and effectively for most school assignments!
